What's on right now

• Halloween entertainment and performance nights vary by date. Check the weekly note above when available and Disney’s daily calendar before choosing a viewing spot.
• World of Color may not run on Oogie Boogie Bash nights, when California Adventure closes early to regular-ticket guests.
• Use current ride status for refurbishments; do not assume a ride is closed based on an earlier trip report.

Watching the fireworks, for free

• Best overall view: the hub, right in front of the castle. You get the full show, including anything projected onto the castle. Expect to claim your spot at least an hour ahead, often two on a busy night.
• Best low-effort view: near "it's a small world." The crowds are lighter and you are close to the Toontown exit, though you will miss some of the bursts that play out over the castle.
• Most unique: Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. A separate show plays there during the fireworks, timed to its own music.
• If you are leaving right after: watch from Main Street near the train station. It puts you close to the exit, and it is a good spot if you are racing over to catch World of Color afterward.

Watching World of Color, for free

• Join the virtual queue in the Disneyland app. You need a valid ticket and to have entered the park by noon that day. This is the way most locals see the show without paying extra.
• If you get placed in the splash zone, stand near the front. You will get wet, more so on a windy night, but it is widely considered one of the best places to watch.
• No queue spot? Ask a Cast Member about standby areas behind the reserved sections. On slower nights they may point you to a better spot than you would find on your own.

Paid viewing, if you want it

• Fantasmic! dining packages at Cafe Orleans and River Belle Terrace include a reserved viewing spot. Cafe Orleans is generally considered the better view of the two.
• World of Color dining packages run at Wine Country Trattoria, Magic Key Terrace, or Storyteller's Cafe at the Grand Californian. Most planners we trust do not think the markup is worth it, since the free virtual queue gets you a very good seat already.
• Staying at the Grand Californian? Ask about the hotel's private viewing deck for World of Color. It is a quiet, uncrowded option for hotel guests only.

Good to know

• Disneyland enforces a two-hour maximum wait for parade viewing spots, so you will not be stuck holding a spot indefinitely.
• Showtimes can shift due to weather, especially for fireworks. Check the app on the day of your visit, not the week before.
