Your first day at Disneyland Park: a one-day plan

Use this as a flexible route

The times below assume an 8am opening. Shift the schedule for your date, check height requirements, and skip or swap stops as needed. This is not a promise that every ride will fit into one day.

Before you go

• Buy tickets, make your park reservation, and download the Disneyland app. Add your payment card so mobile ordering is one tap.
• Decide on Lightning Lane Multi Pass the night before. On a weekend or holiday, with only one day, we'd buy it.
• Wear shoes you've walked 8 miles in. You will.
• Arrival: work backward from today’s posted opening time. Allow time for parking and security, aiming for the turnstiles 45–60 minutes before opening.

Opening to 10:30am: the golden hours

• Peter Pan's Flight
• Alice in Wonderland, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Snow White's Enchanted Wish
• Matterhorn Bobsleds
• Space Mountain
• Book your first Lightning Lane the moment you're through the gate. Try Tiana's Bayou Adventure or Big Thunder Mountain for late morning.

10:30am to noon

• Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, if operating and the current wait suits your group. A mid-morning dip is not guaranteed.
• Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run while you're there. Single Rider may save time if offered, but it splits your party and the saving is not guaranteed.
• Mobile order lunch now for an 11:15 or 11:30 pickup.

Noon to 2pm: the classics, when lines are long elsewhere

• Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion. Both offer indoor ride time; compare posted waits and check which Haunted Mansion version is operating.
• Jungle Cruise, if its wait is under 30 minutes.
• Use Lightning Lanes as they come up.

2pm to 4pm: take the break

• Crowds and heat both peak at this hour. Pick a quiet spot, watch a show, ride the Disneyland Railroad if its current route works for you, or go back to your hotel.

4pm to 7pm

• Big Thunder Mountain, Tiana's Bayou Adventure, "it's a small world," and Buzz Lightyear
• Early dinner at 5, before the rush.
• Walk through Galaxy's Edge again as the light changes.

Evening

• Check the app for tonight's parade and fireworks times. Claim a spot 30 to 45 minutes ahead, or skip the show and ride while everyone else is watching.
• The last hour is the second golden hour. Big Thunder in the dark is a different ride. Check each attraction’s closing time and Cast Member directions; queues can close early.
• Walk slowly down Main Street on your way out. Check shop hours rather than assuming they stay open after park closing.
• Closures: check today’s ride status below. If Indiana Jones Adventure is operating and a priority, swap it for another stop rather than adding another cross-park detour.
• What this plan skips, on purpose: Autopia, the Storybook Land boats, Toontown, and most shows. You can't do everything in one day, and trying to is how first visits go wrong. Ten rides you enjoyed is a better day than fifteen you sprinted between.
